ASL import

I am attempting to import data from an ASL 6000 series eye-tracker.   I have taken the data into ASL results and exported it as a .txt file.  The problem is that the file is not deliminated like a standard CSV (or other normal format), instead of having columns separated by a single deliminator (space, comma, semicolon, etc) they have a irregular number of spaces that make it look nice when viewed in a text editor because the columns are straight, but import becomes very difficult.

Ogama identifies all spaces as empty columns.

I have attached the top of one of the the files so you get the idea of the format (this is before any data has been collected), if you copy and paste it into a text editor it should look correct).

Do you have any advice for getting this data in?

thanks

Hi Cogsci,
there are three possibilities/suggestions to try:
1) Try to use the direct ASL recording option of ogama, this will avoid import process and should work with the ASL 6000 device.
2) Make a replace of "20 spaces" with a "#" this will write a "#" for empty columns, then make multiple replaces of "  " (2 spaces) with " " (one space) until all occurencies of 2 spaces are replaced, this will omit all multiple spaces of different length replacing it with a single space, now import using a single space as column delimiter.
3) Try to export only columns with values and then go on with suggestion 2, second step.
Kind regards, Adrian
